In reply to Flora Emberton. As long as you have completed your initial Medicare assessment (5-day), you can complete an IPA. The IPA will change the payment beginning on the IPA ARD. Per the RAI Manual instructions, the ARD decision is the provider's decision so you can set it when you want. Keep in mind that you will also need the BIMS and PHQ-9 interviews and section GG information for the IPA so you technically wouldn't be able to set the ARD any earlier than today's date or forward, not retrospectively.

I am going to complete an IPA to capture IV meds that are for 10 days, when do I need to do an IPA after IV meds are complete?

In reply to Fran Kramer. Therapy does not need to complete a new evaluation when an IPA is completed and they should not complete a discharge for the Medicare A stay up to the ARD for the IPA.

In reply to Kimm Burton. The IPA lookback period for all items is 7 days unless another time frame is indicated on the IPA item set. Section GG is a 3 day lookback: the ARD and two preceding days.

Interim IPA assessment. I you pick 10/3 for the ARD for the interim IPA is the look back 7 days 9/27-10/3 and can GG be completed anytime during that look back?
