Flu Season that is. According to the CDC, approximately 17 million workdays a year are lost during flu season. Tens of thousands of people are hospitalized, and thousands die from flu-related illnesses each year! Keeping patients safe from infection is everyone’s responsibility.
Here are some ways to help protect your patients from illnesses:
- Clean your hands before and after providing care
- Follow ALL posted precaution signs
- Use personal protective equipment, glove, gown, mask or face shield appropriately
- Keep patient’s environment and equipment clean
Make certain that you are doing your part by:
- Staying home if you are sick
- Get vaccinated
Incorporate educational and supportive processes in your everyday patient interactions by:
- Educating patients on Infection Prevention
- Knowing if antibiotics are appropriate
